About New Mexico Phone Directory

Phone numbers in New Mexico sit with a lot of different publishers. State agencies post their own contact pages. Each of the 33 counties runs its own website. School districts, university campuses, utilities, and hospitals all keep separate lists. Two area codes cover the whole state, and the records behind them belong to national and state numbering authorities. One plain question can turn into four or five open tabs. This site gathers the directories, the area code references, and the hotline numbers people here actually reach for, and keeps them in one place.

Why We Built This Site

New Mexico has no single phone book. The starting point for state government is the departments and agencies index on NewMexico.gov, which lists the cabinet departments and the statewide offices. After that, each agency is on its own. The General Services Department posts employee phone numbers division by division. The State Personnel Office, the State Land Office, and the Department of Finance and Administration each keep a separate contact page. The Public Education Department goes furthest of all and runs a public staff locator with direct phone numbers, titles, and divisions listed row by row.

Outside the state offices the picture spreads out further. UNM and NMSU each run a campus phonebook. The New Mexico State Library publishes specialty lines for interlibrary loan, Books by Mail, and readers who are blind or print disabled. Counties are the hard part. All 33 of them publish on their own, and there is no statewide master county directory to fall back on. Area code and numbering questions belong to NANPA and to the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission, which are two more places to look. We put those entry points together so a search starts in one spot instead of five.

  • We cannot change anyone's directory listing, add a number, or remove a listing
  • We cannot tell you who is behind a 505 or 575 number on your caller ID
  • We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific scam call applies to your situation
  • We cannot guarantee that every phone number, area code, or directory link on this site is current right now
